This project will outline a set of dominat themes or core identities present in medieval love fantasies, which re-emerge in the European culture from the early Italian Renaissance until the end of the eighteenth century. This 'European identity of passion' is rooted in European society and develops within the paraliterature of high cultural circles. In these centuries a 'code of ethics of passion' is formed through the art of storytelling, an all-Italian vocation: narrative mediation provides European élites with ways, behaviours and expressions that will give life to the new bourgeois and nineteenth-century code of passion.
